Page 12, exercise 10. Describe one of your friends or relatives. Mention something positive and something negative about him/her. (Example: p. 10, ex 2 ) 
Write about 60 words.
   - Use personality adjectives from the lesson.
   - Say why you like that person.

Page 27, exercise 5. Write about the meal timetables and the kind of food you have in your family. Include a variety of food vocabulary from the lesson.

Page 37, exercise 8. You are staying at a hotel. Write a postcard to a friend describing it. Include a variety of vocabulary from the lesson. There are some positive and some negative aspects about the hotel. Write about 60 words.

Include structures like:    -There is/ are...      - On the first/second/third floor....

UNIT 4    Cities

P. 43 – ex.7. 
Organize a tourist visit to your city including the following information: distance from a large city, how to get around, attractions for tourists, one problem and one advantage of living there. (Examples: p. 43, ex 2 and p. 47, ex 8)

  • Use connectors: first, then, next, after that and finally.
  • Include: you can visit..., there is /are..., you can have lunch/dinner at....
  • Write about 60 words.


                 Exercise: Learn how to give and understand directions by listening and looking at the map. Do the preparation exercise before you listen. Then, look at the map and listen to the directions while you do the other 2 exercises: gap fill typing and gap fill.

UNIT 5    The world around us

       P. 55 – ex. 7       
       Write an email about the weather in your town. Write about 60 words. 
  • Include: seasons, temperature and different types of weather adjectives: sunny, windy, cloudy... and weather nouns: snow, rain, ice...
  • Use frequency adverbs: sometimes, usually, always.... and Present Simple tense. 
        Examples: p. 50, ex.2; p. 52, ex. 9; p. 54, ex.2;  p. 55, ex. 7 and p. 56, ex. 1.

  • The Weather: Listening and exercises. Do the preparation exercise before you listen. Then listen to the weather forecast while you do the other 2 exercises: matching and  gap fill typing .
  • Present Simple vs Present Continuous.

UNIT 6    Shopping

P. 67 – ex. 8   
Write an email about the shops around your home to someone coming on a home exchange. Some useful ideas:
  • There is a market on Mondays/at weekends...
  • The hairdresser's is next to/near/opposite the butcher's.
  • There are 2 fast-food restaurants / a lot of supermarkets...
  • You can buy very good meat at.... / you can buy cheap clothes at...
  • It's open five days a week but the best day is... because... 
Examples: p. 60, ex.2; p. 63, ex. 7; p. 64, ex.2;  p. 66, ex. 2 and p. 67, ex. 6.

P.  78 – ex. 5   
What do you spend your money on? What is a waste of money in your opinion?. Write about 60 words. Some useful ideas:
  • I spend my money on food, leisure, travel...
  • I think that ... is very important / is not important / is a waste of money...
  • Useful vocabulary: earn money, save money to + infinitive, a mortgage, loan, savings...

What jobs do you do in the house? How often do you do housework?
Write about 60 words. Some useful ideas:

In the section called Chores (labores) there are nine pages of posts sent by kids (they make some mistakes). They answer these questions: What chores do you help with at home? Which chores do you like doing? Are there any chores that you don't like doing? Which chores are easy?
